About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Budget Administrator to join our team at NOVA Parks. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and analyzing our operating and special fund budgets.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in budget management, financial analysis, and strategic planning. You will work closely with our senior management team to establish revenue and expense projections, monitor budget targets, and provide guidance on budgetary matters.

This is a unique opportunity to join a special purpose local government that generates almost 90% of its operating revenues through various enterprises. You will have the chance to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, where innovation and creativity are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, analyze, and monitor operating and special fund budgets
  • Provide guidance on budgetary matters and financial analysis
  • Work closely with senior management to establish revenue and expense projections
  • Monitor budget targets and provide regular financial updates
  • Supervise the Budget Analyst and provide training and consultation on budget matters
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on personnel budget impacts
  • Act as principal liaison with budget officers of member jurisdictions and auditors
  • Develop financial summaries and budget-in-brief documents
  • Make effective presentations and participate in board meetings on budgetary issues
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, economics, public policy, or a related field
  • Minimum eight years of progressively responsible budget management and technical budget preparation experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of public administration, budget and finance administration, and strategic planning
  • Ability to conduct complex budget and fiscal studies and data analysis
  • Ability to plan and carry out an effective plan of budgetary preparation, analysis, and management
  • Ability to guide and direct staff in accomplishing detailed technical analyses
  • Ability to plan, develop, and execute creative approaches to complex financial issues
  • Advanced abilities in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to adapt to budget development software and quickly develop advanced skill level

This is a benefit-eligible position with a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $114,519.19. We offer a range of benefits, including medical and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, retirement plan, and more.
