About the Opportunity

The Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an exceptional Pulmonology and Critical Care physician to join the Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care within the Department of Internal Medicine.

The ideal candidate will have experience in medical education, clinical program development, and scholarship, and will be eligible for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level.

The Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care at Dell Medical School aims to provide world-class clinical care and advance the field through collaborative research and training of new physician leaders.

The successful candidate will work with the Dell Med and UT Health Austin leadership on quality improvement projects, development of care models, and in medical education to meaningfully improve healthcare system processes and delivery of high-value care for patients in Travis County.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct inpatient and outpatient patient care
  • Collaborate with UT Health Austin, community health systems, and other Dell Med clinical partners to develop new models of care and clinical protocols
  • Participate in continuous process improvements within the outpatient settings
  • Work with students, residents, and fellows in our clinical settings

Qualifications

  • MD degree with residency training in Internal Medicine and Pulmonology and Critical Care fellowship training
  • Able to be appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level
  • Experience in mentoring students, residents, and fellows
  • Training and experience in leading quality improvement initiatives

About the Department

The Department of Internal Medicine is home to 20 categorical residents per year, including a Primary Care Track and a Distinctions Track in Care Transformation, plus 5 preliminary interns in Medicine.

Dell Seton Medical Center is a 220-bed, safety net, Level 1 Trauma Center, and serves as the inpatient training facility for this program.

The Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care works in collaboration with many specialties to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.
