Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage contracts with districts to provide fiscal support for direct business management services and strategic planning.
  • Analyze and create training models and programs to support district staff in meeting current and future needs.
  • Review and analyze a wide variety of financial information to identify irregularities, recommend controls, and ensure compliance with established financial practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist external agency personnel in providing requested information and general support to the performance of their duties.
  • Compile statistical and financial data to provide third-party reporting and financial summaries to other personnel, ensuring compliance with established regulations.
  • Develop reporting processes and procedures to maintain the efficient flow of financial processes.
  • Facilitate meetings to identify appropriate actions, develop recommendations, and serve as the district representative.
  • Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization.
  • Maintain a variety of manual and electronic fiscal information to provide an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and gather information required to perform functions.
  • Prepare a wide variety of materials to document activities and issues, meet compliance requirements, and provide supporting materials for requested actions.
  • Provide technical expertise and direction to school districts and agency administration to convey information and ensure compliance with established policies, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile fiscal information to verify reasonability and comply with accounting practices.
  • Provide recommendations on a range of issues to identify appropriate actions, support member school districts, and serve as the district representative.
  • Recommend accounting procedures to provide internal financial controls to member school districts and ensure quality control and compliance with GAAP.
  • Research a variety of topics and GASB updates to evaluate compliance requirements and potential implications on member school districts.
  • Respond to a wide variety of inquiries from member district personnel, other professional organizations to resolve problems, provide information, and refer to appropriate personnel.
  • Supervise personnel to advance the development of effective leaders and high-performing teams and achieve agency and departmental objectives.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or higher in Accounting or job-related field and job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • 5 years of school district finance/accounting/budgeting experience, including knowledge of Washington State School District Accounting Manual rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Washington State RCWs related to school finance.
  • Senior-level supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience in training models for adult learning.
  • Proficiency in gathering and interpreting fiscal data.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets and/or databases.
  • Knowledge of GAAP Principles.
  • Legislative Experience.
