Job Purpose

The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing represented maintenance employees and the maintenance of the corporation's equipment and rolling stock. This role requires advanced knowledge of vehicle maintenance, labor relations, and contract negotiations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Determine, gather, and provide the materials, parts, tools, and labor necessary for bus vehicle and equipment repairs
  2. Supervise all vehicle and equipment repairs; manage an efficient workflow and verify units have been properly fixed
  3. Ensure that preventative and predictive maintenance, repair work, and fueling and cleaning of rolling stock and equipment are accomplished in a timely and thorough manner
  4. Enforce departmental policies, including policies related to work schedules and assigning personnel to carry out required work effectively
  5. Complete relevant paperwork and reports; this includes ensuring that all maintenance actions (bus defects and repairs, etc.) are properly documented
  6. Provide support to mechanics, including answering questions and addressing complaints
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; formal trade school or an associate degree in an automotive or engineering program or a related field is preferred
  • Three to five years of vehicle maintenance experience and customer service experience is required, preferably in a union environment
  • A valid Indiana Operators Driver's License is required; a valid Indiana Commercial Driver's License is preferred
Estimated Salary Range

$55,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience
