Job Title: Education Consultant

The University of New Mexico is seeking a highly skilled Education Consultant to join our team at the Center for Development and Disability (CDD). As a key member of our Early Childhood Network (ECN), you will play a critical role in delivering specialized education, training, and technical advice to support the statewide professional development of early intervention educators and interdisciplinary professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with state leaders to perform educational needs assessments and review state and national resources to support the workforce.
  • Provide group and/or individualized specialized education, training, technical advice, and consultation on current best practices in early intervention, either in-person or virtually.
  • Work in collaboration with early intervention, school districts, and early childhood partners to support education and early childhood outcomes for children with disabilities/developmental delays and their families.
  • Participate in state and regional interagency meetings, advisory boards, committees, workgroups, and strategic planning efforts to support education and early childhood outcomes.
  • Serve as a Transition Coach for community-based early intervention and public school transition teams.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies from diverse communities throughout New Mexico.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials, and to organize resources, establish priorities, and work efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field with emphasis on early childhood development and specialized instruction.
  • Experience working in an early intervention system delivering and/or having oversight of family-centered, relationship-based, interdisciplinary services for young children and their families.
  • Knowledge of Individual Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C, governing services for young children with developmental delays and/or disabilities and their families.
