Position Overview:

The Environmental Services Associate plays a crucial role in upholding cleanliness and infection control standards in accordance with established protocols.

This position involves executing a range of general cleaning tasks to ensure patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other designated areas within the facility are maintained to the highest standards.

Adherence to standard operating procedures and compliance with regulatory guidelines is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cleaning of patient rooms following departmental and infection control policies.
  • Ensure all public areas are kept in a clean and visually appealing condition.
  • Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, and equipment, while also maintaining floor cleanliness.
  • Utilize various mechanical cleaning equipment such as floor cleaners, buffers, and vacuums.
  • Perform wet mopping of rooms and hallways, as well as shampooing rugs and upholstery.
  • Clean high areas including vents and windows using appropriate equipment.
  • Collect and dispose of waste materials using designated containers.
  • Maintain floors through buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing.
  • Assist in moving furniture and heavy items as necessary.
  • Execute terminal cleaning procedures for patient rooms and prepare them for new occupants, following isolation protocols when required.
  • Disinfect all surfaces in bathrooms, including fixtures, floors, and walls.
  • Deliver linens to various departments according to established schedules.
  • Keep work areas organized and assist with additional cleaning tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred, or completion of a GED program within one year, along with relevant experience.
  • One to three months of related experience or training is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform various physical tasks including:
  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional climbing, kneeling, and crouching.

Competencies:
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Strong attention to detail in cleaning and sanitation tasks.
  • Effective communication skills.
