Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Higher Education Coordinator to join our team at Compton Unified School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of college and career readiness programs, providing information and guidance to students, teachers, counselors, and parents, and maintaining accurate records of student participation in college and career readiness programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day and evening workshops to provide information on college/university entrance requirements, applications, scholarships, post-secondary options, financial aid, and testing deadlines.
  • Disseminate up-to-date information and research data to school staff, students, parents, and community members regarding academic planning for college and career readiness.
  • Maintain a website with up-to-date information, resources, and links regarding college and career readiness that is easily accessible to all CUSD students and families.
  • Assist with the administration and supervision of District college and career readiness programs and personnel.
  • Remain informed of any changes in laws and policies related to college and career readiness.
  • Work closely with counselors to ensure students have a clear understanding of District College and Career Pathways, aligned course offerings, and completion requirements.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance existing skills in standards for college and career readiness and ability to connect students to post-secondary and sustainable career paths.
  • Coordinate visits of college representatives to high school sites and college field trips.
  • Collect assessment/evaluation data to measure success of program and services.
  • Interpret PSAT and financial aid package results to students, parents, and staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Master's degree desirable.
  • Possession of a California Pupil Personal Services Credential (PPS) in counseling desirable.
  • Four years of experience in counseling in a k-12 environment, with experience in college and career readiness preferred.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn, interpret, and apply Visions In Education's objectives, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and operations.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn and use applicable sections of the California Education Code, Charter law, and other pertinent laws.
