The Group for Women is a leading OB/GYN practice with multiple locations in the Norfolk, Chesapeake area. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Supervisor to join our team.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a skilled and compassionate Clinical Supervisor to oversee the clinical support staff and co-manage the clinical department with the office Administrator and leadership team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising staff, implementing patient care strategies, and ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Hire, onboard, direct, mentor, develop, and schedule staff, including communicating job expectations and providing performance reviews.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff to implement patient care plans.
- Meet nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; and identifying system improvements.
- Provide input on annual budget planning, monitor expenditures, research possible investments in equipment or additional staffing, and identify variances in departmental costs.
- Identify patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
- Maintain nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
- Assure quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements, measuring health outcomes against standards, and making or recommending adjustments.
- Complete patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff and following up on work results.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, staff, and providers.
- Provide information to patients and healthcare teams by answering questions and requests.
- Resolve patients' needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations, and by calling for assistance from other healthcare professionals.
- Protect patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, and by enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
- Maintain documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records.
- Ensure operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability, completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, requesting repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies, and approving requisitions and cost allocations.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- RDN (Registered Nurse) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse).
- Active applicable state licensure.
- American Heart Association issued BLS and ACLS certification.
We are a busy OB/GYN practice with 3 locations in the Norfolk, Downtown Norfolk and Chesapeake area. We have 8 physicians, 3 Physician Assistants, 1 Nurse Practitioner, and 3 Certified Nurse Midwives.
