Job Overview

Position Summary:
  • As a pivotal leader and mentor, you will embody the guiding principles of Carmeuse while overseeing the maintenance team, steering the site towards enhanced predictive maintenance and superior quality in repairs and craftsmanship.
  • This role reports directly to the Site Operations Manager and involves daily collaboration with Quarry and Plant Production managers and Supervisors to implement maintenance and reliability strategies effectively.
  • Lead the Maintenance team to guarantee that maintenance tasks on Carmeuse plant equipment are executed safely, efficiently, and promptly.
  • Champion safety within the Maintenance Department, ensuring compliance with all relevant state, federal, and company safety regulations. This includes strategic planning of manpower and budgetary resources to meet safety objectives.
  • Engage with MSHA and other regulatory health and safety bodies at both local and federal levels as necessary.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate root cause analyses (RCA's) as required, depending on the nature of incidents.
  • Contribute to daily production meetings to ensure seamless communication between production and maintenance teams.
  • Regularly interact with both direct and indirect reports (maintenance and production), providing constructive feedback and coaching to elevate maintenance performance standards.
  • Develop and implement training programs to equip employees with the skills needed to perform their roles safely and effectively.
  • Actively engage in weekly planning and scheduling meetings with production and maintenance teams, driving long-term planning for significant outages in collaboration with the Maintenance Planner and Supervisors.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the maintenance modules within the CMMS/SAP system, optimizing its functionalities for preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all maintenance Work Orders, including urgent repairs, and guarantee that the Maintenance Team documents completed work promptly.
  • Oversee the quality of work performed by maintenance personnel, providing follow-up and feedback, and identifying training needs to close performance gaps.
  • Ensure the execution of daily and weekly maintenance plans through your teams, and communicate the status of these plans back to Operations.
  • Manage necessary arrangements to maintain plant operations during breakdowns, which may involve off-hours coordination and support.
  • Continuously monitor key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities and inform supervisory and management personnel of findings.
  • Provide regular feedback to the maintenance team regarding goals and performance expectations.
  • Initiate and recommend solutions through established channels.
  • Lead the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiative to enhance reliability and reduce maintenance expenditures.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance and operational business processes, with a strong background in continuous manufacturing and production processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preventative and predictive maintenance practices, along with experience in computerized maintenance management systems; strong management and Total Productive Maintenance experience; Six Sigma training is advantageous.
  • Proven track record in driving operational excellence through behavior-based management.
  • Prior experience demonstrating effective leadership capabilities.
  • Exemplary teamwork and maturity, coupled with a robust work ethic.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
