Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at the Austin Travis County Sobriety Center. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting clients in their journey towards harm reduction and recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing support to clients during intake, admission, and throughout their stay.
  • Monitor clients at all times while using a supportive and non-judgmental approach.
  • Assist in de-escalating individuals during intake and throughout their stay.
  • Responsible for securing client property to be returned at discharge.
  • Motivate clients toward change and help develop connections in the community.
  • Focus on clients' strengths and attend to their overall health and wellness.
  • Provide referrals as needed.
  • Support clients' decisions for treatment and services.
  • Provide follow-up telephone calls as a continuum of care.
  • Clean sobering areas, bathrooms, and break rooms as needed.
  • Maintain documentation of charts associated with BHT responsibilities.
  • Provide support at community and mobile service sites during designated events.
  • Maintain communication with intake staff and shift lead.
  • Represent the center with a professional image.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Attend all meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Adapt to changing work requirements.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid CPR Certification required within 6 months of hire date.
  • Hold a valid Texas Driver License.
  • CPI or SAMA certification preferred.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and bilingual/cultural proficiency.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Adhere to patient confidentiality policies and strong ethics.
  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Mental Health 1st Aid, and Mental Health Awareness.
  • Ability to drive a van and operate a wheelchair lift.
