Job Title: Health Assistant

Join the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services team as a Health Assistant and contribute to the well-being of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Summary:

The Health Assistant will work within the Behavioral Health Department, performing routine duties that support the learning of practical, functional, and meaningful skills, while decreasing challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist behavioral health specialists and behavior analysts in the development of Skills Acquisition Plans (SAPs) and/or Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs).
  • Take, enter, monitor, and report various forms of data and complete various behavioral, psychiatric, preference, strengths, functional, adaptive skills or other assessments deemed necessary by the Behavior Health Specialist or Behavior Analyst.
  • Train direct care staff, assist in the creation or implementation of PBSPs and/or SAPs, provide special treatment and/or training sessions, substitute for other behavioral health staff at assigned meetings, and other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor in the provision of behavioral health and skill acquisition programming.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of behavioral analysis theories and practice, regulatory guidelines, and facility operations and policies.
  • Ability to implement educational and behavioral treatment and therapy, work with interdisciplinary teams, train staff, communicate effectively, and use computers and relevant software.
