As a Healthcare Access Coordinator, you play a crucial administrative role in healthcare by initiating scheduling or check-in processes, while obtaining and verifying demographic information for the patient's permanent medical record, all while ensuring confidentiality is upheld.

You are frequently the initial point of contact during the patient registration and admissions process, engaging with patients in person, over the phone, or through digital platforms.

Your professionalism and interpersonal skills shine as you collaborate with patients, healthcare providers, and other medical staff.

With a compassionate approach, you guide patients through what may appear to be a complicated process, especially during their times of stress or vulnerability.

You provide mental and emotional support, and sometimes even physical assistance, when necessary.

Your Responsibilities:
1. Welcome patients, guests, and family members both via phone and in person, scheduling appointments with the appropriate provider, location, and time.
2. Assess current patient information to establish or create accounts for all patients seeking services, including walk-ins and emergency cases.
3. Register patients by accurately entering demographic, financial, and insurance details, correcting any errors as needed.
4. Initiate bed placements, reservations, transfers, and discharges based on requests from clinical staff.
5. Assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities, arranging payment plans, completing financial assistance applications, and coordinating care with providers.
6. Ensure the registration and admissions process is completed, gathering all necessary documentation and ensuring accuracy.
7. Perform insurance verification to confirm active coverage and notify insurance companies of admissions within the required timeframe.
8. Provide directions to relevant areas, such as service departments, financial counseling, and waiting areas.
9. Schedule and reschedule patient appointments as necessary, educating patients about available service options.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
