Federal Realty Investment Trust is seeking a skilled Maintenance Lead to join our team. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal condition and functionality of our shopping centers. This role requires a strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform a wide range of general maintenance and groundskeeping tasks, including power washing, bulk trash disposal, landscaping, pothole repair, and painting. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, flooring, concrete, and asphalt is required.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement a preventive maintenance schedule to prolong equipment life, reduce breakdowns, and optimize property condition.
  • Inspection and Reporting: Conduct regular inspections of properties to identify potential maintenance issues and safety hazards. Follow up with Property Managers on maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment condition.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or maintenance services. Ensure contractors adhere to Federal's standards and specifications.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain adequate inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for employees and shoppers.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to maintenance emergencies promptly and efficiently.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with tenants, contractors, Federal's internal departments, and other stakeholders regarding maintenance issues and progress.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in general maintenance and repair
  • Basic carpentry skills are required. General understanding and ability to troubleshoot basic plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC issues.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Experience in the retail or commercial property maintenance industry highly preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
  • Ability to work weekend and overtime hours as needed, available for emergency calls
