About the Role

The Lead Barista is a key member of our Anna & Bel team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our café and ensuring the delivery of high-quality coffee and exceptional customer service. This role involves leading the barista team, training staff, and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and support baristas, fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Coffee Preparation: Prepare and serve coffee and tea following proper steps of service and standards, ensuring a consistently high level of quality.
  • Training and Development: Onboard and train new staff in coffee preparation, equipment use, and customer service, empowering them to deliver exceptional experiences.
  • Inventory Management: Properly handle, maintain, and clean all equipment, and manage inventory and stocking with proper FIFO and LIFO procedures.
  • Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash and credit card payments following proper procedures, maintaining a secure and efficient payment process.
  • Customer Service: Graciously take guests' orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and effective manner, providing a positive experience.
  • Menu Knowledge: Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, making recommendations to guests and promoting our products.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety standards, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for guests and staff.
Requirements and Experience
  • Experience: 1-3+ years of hospitality experience in full-service restaurants.
  • Availability: Open availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes and priorities.
  • Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop employees, building high-performance teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems and solve them, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Communication: Professional and confident verbal and written communication with guests, employees, and ownership.
  • Certifications: ServSafe and TiPs certified (or equivalent) preferred.
