Role Overview:

Mission: The Control Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring optimal production conditions. This encompasses maintaining a safe workplace, delivering superior quality products and processes, and achieving peak performance levels. A multidisciplinary approach and effective communication are essential for identifying opportunities for process enhancements, utilizing problem-solving methodologies, and proposing innovative solutions. Adherence to industry standards such as OSHA, IATF, and MOS is crucial.

Objective: Leverage Control Engineering expertise to enhance Metalsa's manufacturing processes while prioritizing safety, quality, and productivity to optimize plant performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality Systems guidelines relevant to the area and the entire facility.
  • Follow the employee Handbook guidelines regarding Paid Time Off (PTO), training, FMLA, and labor relations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control protocols, conduct audits, and update practices and procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Automation Coordinator.
  • Pursue continuous improvement in processes (productivity and profitability) through engineering principles (process redesign, new technologies, etc.).
  • Assist in defining and adhering to Control Engineering Standards.
  • Address production process irregularities while emphasizing continuous improvement.
  • Implement CapEx projects within defined scope, timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Develop work instructions that support the Production and Controls Engineering Teams.
  • Investigate new technologies and create applications that enhance overall plant performance.
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of new products, engineering modifications, and processes.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Project management experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in 2D software drawing (including drawing and reading).
  • Knowledge of Geometric and Dimensional Tolerancing is desired.
  • Experience with problem-solving tools and critical thinking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems (control circuits, power circuits up to 480VAC, logic, motor control, robotics, etc.).
  • Experience with PLC and HMI Software (RSLogix5, 500, 5000, Studio, Siemens S7, and PanelView).
  • Familiarity with robotic software and programming (ABB and Fanuc is desirable).
  • Experience with TwinCat, Beckhoff, and 2D Matrix and vision systems (Cognex and DVT) is preferred.
