POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves performing moderately complex custodial tasks within designated areas. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining Department of Public Safety facilities and grounds, managing custodial equipment, and ordering supplies. Training of other staff may be required. Work is conducted under general supervision, allowing for some initiative and independent judgment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Execute general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and window cleaning.

2. Maintain restrooms by replenishing supplies and applying appropriate cleaning agents.

3. Clean office furniture, walls, and windows; manage waste disposal; and ensure thorough cleaning of office spaces.

4. Disinfect and clean various areas such as restrooms and offices.

5. Conduct carpet maintenance and care.

6. Clean drapes and upholstery, and repair window treatments as needed.

7. Assist with furniture relocation for cleaning, office reconfigurations, or special events.

8. Operate floor maintenance machinery, including buffers and vacuums.

9. Perform minor repairs on custodial equipment as necessary.

10. Manage and restock custodial supply storage areas.

11. May engage in limited outdoor maintenance tasks such as mowing and trash collection.

12. Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular work hours.

13. Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School graduation or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six months of relevant custodial experience is preferred.

LICENSE: A valid driver’s license from the state of residence is required.

CUSTODIAL SKILLS: Proficiency in performing custodial tasks and operating modern cleaning equipment.

REGULATORY KNOWLEDGE: Familiarity with relevant regulations and cleaning procedures is essential.

TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS: Basic computer skills for timecard management and email communication are necessary.

ANALYTICAL ABILITIES: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are required.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are crucial.

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS: Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment is important.

CONFIDENTIALITY: Must handle sensitive information responsibly.

SCHEDULE: Flexibility for after-hours and weekend work may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical and environmental demands for this position include:

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and kneel;
  • Climbing ladders;
  • Hand-eye coordination and dexterity;
  • Ability to lift weights up to fifty pounds;
  • Occasional driving requirements.
