Position Overview


As an Intermodal Operations Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient execution of daily service obligations by overseeing a dedicated team of technicians and gate operations personnel at a designated intermodal facility.

Your responsibilities will also encompass the upkeep and troubleshooting of the Automated Gate System (AGS) and other technological solutions, aimed at achieving optimal operational performance in a dynamic outdoor setting.

Key Responsibilities


• Serve as the subject matter expert in intelligent gate operations, including the Synapse AGS Clerk Console, Visibility, and Class 1 Railroad terminal operating systems (TSS, Oasis, ITOS, OBI, etc.).
• Manage staff scheduling, including work assignments, rotations, vacations, breaks, and coverage for absent team members.
• Lead initiatives at the intermodal terminal and Remote Operations Center (ROC) to address complex operational challenges.
• Develop, communicate, and implement strategic operational plans to ensure the daily success of both salaried and hourly employees.
• Ensure AGS hardware and software are maintained to meet or exceed client Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Facilitate the recruitment process for new hires and provide constructive feedback to upper management.
• Conduct coaching sessions with staff and administer appropriate disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Ensure that supervisors conduct daily Safety Briefings and communicate shift updates to staff.
• Drive efforts to establish employee goals and review points.
• Participate in Yard Audit, Site Safety, and Senior Hub Management meetings.
• Oversee the input, review, and analysis of performance metrics.
• Assist all supervised employees in enhancing and maintaining performance levels.
• Organize regular meetings to improve staff and management understanding of the strategic terminal plan and specific KPIs.

Qualifications


• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Minimum of three years of experience in the intermodal industry.
• Proven experience in managing multiple staff members.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate extended or adjusted hours as necessary.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement procedural changes in a high-pressure environment.
• Ability to mentor, teach, and enhance team capabilities to ensure overall success.
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
• Proficient in arithmetic computations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and professionalism.
• Adaptability to rapidly changing customer requests and industry requirements.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Commitment to proactively enhance overall terminal performance.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications


• Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Capability to work in the presence of loud machinery.
