Schedule Overview: This position will be scheduled as needed each week. Availability for both AM and PM shifts is requested. AM shifts commence at 6am and conclude by 2:30pm. Mid shifts run from 11:00am to 7:30pm. PM shifts begin at 2:00pm and end at 7:30pm. Weekend shifts every other week and a rotating holiday schedule are required.

Your Role:
The Nutritional Support Specialist carries out a range of operational and administrative tasks to ensure optimal nutritional care for patients, serving as a vital communication link between patients, nursing units, and the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes EMR (electronic medical record) and hospital room service systems to obtain the latest dietary information for each patient.
- Monitors EMR to ensure all food allergy information is accurately reflected in the hospital room service system.
- Processes new dietary orders and modifications promptly.
- Responds to phone calls and voicemails efficiently to assist callers accurately.
- Guides patients in menu selection according to their dietary restrictions.
- Tracks patients' carbohydrate and sodium intake based on prescribed dietary guidelines.
- Ensures the accuracy of meal trays by confirming selections with patients.
- Updates relevant menu and nutrition orders with precision.
- Answers general inquiries regarding approved diets.
- Informs the Clinical Dietitian of patients with dietary questions or those not adhering to prescribed diets.
- Clarifies dietary orders with dietitians or nursing staff when necessary.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data management tasks.
- Completes data entry tasks as assigned.
- Assists with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite is essential.
