Emergency Medical Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia Health System. As a member of our Emergency Response Team, you will be responsible for providing advanced life support care to critically ill or injured patients in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities- Administer pre-hospital and advanced life support care to critically ill or injured patients
- Provide a safe environment for patients during transportation to and from the Medical Center
- Assess and treat ill and injured patients in accordance with local and University protocols
- Maintain safety as a primary responsibility throughout all aspects of care and transportation
- Identify potential areas for improved care and implement changes as needed
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- No experience required, but advanced life support experience preferred
- Virginia Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate or Paramedic certification required
- Valid Virginia Driver's License (VADL) required
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- PALS and Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) Level II or higher required to operate a vehicle within 90 days of hire
This position requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps) and driving. The employee may be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
