Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Consultant, Permitting and Compliance Project Manager to join our team at The ERM International Group Limited. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in growing our power sector business in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading permitting tasks on capital development projects, including electric transmission lines, and overseeing staff in a project setting. You will be responsible for assessing environmental conditions and impacts, as well as possessing strong technical writing and communication skills.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing permitting support for electric transmission and distribution projects and renewable energy projects
  • Managing and providing technical expertise on capital delivery permitting projects for a variety of clients with complex technical/regulatory issues
  • Preparing permit applications where required by federal, state, or local environmental regulatory authorities for energy development expansion, and maintenance projects
  • Developing plans and schedules and developing project management reports, such as monthly progress reports
  • Participating in agency consultations, project meetings, and client communications
  • Collaborating with other ERM practitioners to execute natural resources impact assessment and capital project permitting

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, natural resources, or a related discipline
  • ~8+ years consulting or industry experience working with power clients on complex projects under a variety of state, federal regulatory frameworks (VA/Mid-Atlantic U)
  • Working knowledge of key natural resource regulations including the Clean Water Act (Section 401/404 permitting), the Endangered Species Act (Section 7), and the National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106)
