About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our team at Spees Design Build. As an integral part of our project management team, you will assist in coordinating all aspects of project execution, from planning to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects, including developing project schedules, budgets, and plans, and tracking project progress.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project alignment and address any issues that arise, and prepare and distribute project documentation, including meeting minutes, progress reports, and change orders.
  • Site Management: Support on-site project supervision to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements, and coordinate with on-site personnel and subcontractors to resolve any issues that may impact the project timeline or budget.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date project files and records, and help prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and clients.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies, and monitor and report on project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Assist in tracking project expenses and managing the project budget, and help process invoices, purchase orders, and change orders, ensuring all financial documentation is accurate and timely.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a combination of relevant education and work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional work experience in construction project management, preferably in a design-build environment, and related work experience in a similar role, and/or relevant certification or training in a related area.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in project management software, ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Certifications: PMP, CAPM, or equivalent certification is a plus.
