Position Overview:

The Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is in search of a specialist in Autonomic Disorders for a faculty role ranging from Assistant to Full Professor. This position involves active participation in the Autonomic Laboratory and the Autonomic Disorders Program (ADP). Department Highlights:

  • The Department of Neurology stands as the largest and most comprehensive neurology academic group in Wisconsin, boasting a faculty of over 75, which includes more than 60 adult neurologists and neuropsychologists.
  • There are more than 12 Child Neurology faculty members practicing at a nearby children's hospital, alongside an affiliated VA Hospital.
  • Our adult faculty manages a wide array of local and regional patient referrals in a newly established outpatient clinic, which includes advanced autonomic and clinical neurophysiology laboratories.
  • Currently, two faculty members are engaged part-time in the ADP.

Opportunities Available:

  • Evaluate and manage patients with neurological disorders, with a particular focus on autonomic conditions.
  • The ADP, established over 20 years ago, is closely linked with the Neuromuscular Diseases Program.
  • Engage in a substantial outpatient clinic practice and utilize a state-of-the-art autonomic testing laboratory.
  • Opportunities exist for treating pediatric patients and conducting assessments at the autonomic laboratory within the children's hospital.
  • Research collaboration is encouraged with colleagues across both clinical and basic science departments.
  • Educational responsibilities include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participation in Neuromuscular Diseases Conferences and related educational initiatives is expected.

Qualifications Required:

  • Board Certification in Adult Neurology (ABPN) or Internal Medicine.
  • A one-year UCNS Fellowship in Autonomic Disorders (or equivalent). Additional fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology or Neuromuscular Medicine is highly preferred.
  • Eligibility for Wisconsin licensure.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical, research, and teaching capabilities appropriate to the level of training and experience.
  • Proven clinical skills in diagnosing and managing autonomic patients.
  • Excellence in managing clinical responsibilities, including efficiency in clinic operations, timely closure of clinic encounters, and a commitment to achieving high patient satisfaction scores.
  • Potential for limited protected research time may be available as a prerequisite for funding.
  • Successful candidates will exhibit strong clinical skills, refined interpersonal abilities, enthusiasm, and a commitment to the academic missions of MCW.
