Overview:

Siskin Children's Institute is on the lookout for a Healthcare Customer Service Associate (HCSA) to join our dedicated team. This role is integral in providing support for medical and therapeutic services aimed at assisting children with developmental challenges. The HCSA must be adaptable to varying schedules, including potential extended hours.

Key Responsibilities:

The HCSA will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Welcoming patients and managing the check-in process.
  • Collecting patient co-payments and outstanding balances.
  • Handling incoming calls, taking precise messages, and scheduling appointments.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation by scanning and uploading records into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to ensure patients feel informed and cared for during their visit.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in multitasking, time management, and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail. The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment is essential, along with flexibility in adapting to changing situations. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as well as excellent interpersonal abilities, are required. Experience with Electronic Health Records is advantageous.

Education & Experience:

Required: High School Diploma with a minimum of two years of experience in a medical practice, billing, or healthcare setting.

Preferred: Experience in a pediatric medical environment, particularly in billing, front desk, or related roles. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a plus.

Core Functions:

The essential functions of this role include:
  • Greeting patients and managing the check-in and check-out processes.
  • Answering and screening phone calls, as well as making reminder calls for appointments.
  • Collecting and accurately entering patient demographic information into the scheduling and billing systems.
  • Ensuring necessary patient forms are signed and prepared for electronic filing.
  • Acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff.
  • Coordinating with the billing department to verify insurance eligibility prior to services.
  • Maintaining an organized workflow to handle a high volume of tasks efficiently.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with patients, staff, and the public.
  • Supporting the implementation of process changes and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Assisting with the distribution and collection of service feedback surveys.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
