Role Summary

The Lead CAD Design Specialist is responsible for utilizing advanced technology to create comprehensive civil engineering plans for a variety of land development initiatives across commercial, residential, and municipal domains. These plans encompass site layouts, utility configurations, grading, and stormwater management, guiding projects from initial concepts to finalized construction documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce intricate civil engineering plans for diverse land development projects in the commercial, residential, and municipal sectors.
  • Analyze and design engineering systems pertinent to land development and utility management.
  • Prepare and present calculations for site grading, utility establishment, and roadway specifications for integration into detailed drawings.
  • Employ software tools to generate precise 2D and 3D designs for complex engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define project timelines and budgets while addressing challenges effectively.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements, standards, best practices, and software innovations.
  • Evaluate situational data to devise innovative solutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of AutoCAD data files produced.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient in establishing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation according to set standards with minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D (including surfaces, earthworks, profiles, and sections).
  • Ability to perform fundamental calculations (such as slopes and grades).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to communicate effectively across various teams and levels.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in CAD or a related field (preferred).
  • Technical certification in AutoCAD/Drafting.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Prior experience in land development is essential.
  • Experience with single-family and master-planned developments is preferred.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands for this role may include the following:

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
