Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Concrete Construction Specialist to join our team at Kiewit Corporation. As a Concrete Construction Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, laying out, and installing forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts for the installation of concrete structures in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans, and specifications to visualize objects in three dimensions.
- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures, scaffolding, and framework using hand and power tools.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts, and construct and erect built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms according to specifications for molding concrete structures.
- Erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms, insert spreaders and tie-rods between opposite pieces to maintain specific dimensions, and brace forms in place using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timber.
- Pour concrete into finished forms, finish concrete surfaces to specifications, and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.
- Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities, or determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
- Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and explain and take any corrective action needed.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- A strong working knowledge of skills and abilities for the position.
- The ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
- Proficiency in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools as well as measurement tools.
- The ability to work in a construction environment and be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
- The ability to work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
- The ability to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet) and climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- The ability to move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces.
- The ability to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
- The ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the construction/industrial site.
- The ability to have required tools.
- The ability to observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required.
- The ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, fit for duty medical, and background check.
