Responsibilities

Position Summary

The MRI Technologist operates advanced imaging equipment that employs powerful magnets and radio waves to generate detailed images of the body, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce safety protocols regarding magnetic fields for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitor patient conditions before and after imaging procedures to guarantee safety and comfort.
  • Clearly explain the imaging process to patients, ensuring they understand the procedure.
  • Position patients appropriately and instruct them on preparation for MRI scans.
  • Possess knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and MRI terminology.
  • Familiarity with MRI coding systems is essential.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Prepare and verify the functionality of imaging equipment to meet diagnostic standards.
  • Address equipment malfunctions and liaise with service representatives as needed.
  • Conduct quality checks and maintain equipment logs.
  • Manage clinical supply inventory to ensure all necessary materials are available.
  • Actively participate in patient examinations, addressing routine and urgent requests.
  • Assist with basic clinical care for patients.
  • Support patient scheduling as required.
  • Provide thorough patient orientation and education before, during, and after examinations.
  • Review physician orders to confirm the appropriateness of requested diagnostic exams.
  • Select and adjust equipment settings to optimize image quality.
  • Execute diagnostic exams following established departmental protocols.
  • Seek assistance for incomplete procedures or patient care concerns.
  • Ensure all documentation, including patient charges, is completed accurately.
  • Process images and perform quality assurance checks, maintaining comprehensive records.
  • Complete all necessary image post-processing tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Licensure:

  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Certification from an accredited MRI program and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (MR); or ARRT (R)(MR); must maintain current certification as per state regulations.
  • CPR/BLS certification required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Previous experience in MRI preferred but not mandatory.

Pay Range

$46.51 per hour
