Patient Care Technician, M6E, 36 Hours

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our Medical Surgical Unit at Boston Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct clinical and support services to patients and their families, working under the direction and supervision of our registered nurses.
Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for performing a variety of delegated patient care interventions, including obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, and providing emotional support.
Responsibilities- Provide direct clinical and support services to patients and their families
- Perform delegated patient care interventions, including vital signs, bathing, and feeding
- Assist with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and providing emotional support
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the Medical Surgical Unit, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification
- Ability to pass clinical competency testing
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
- Basic math and computer proficiency
- One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
- Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training
- Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
- One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
