Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Retail Director supports the General Manager in overseeing the operations of both firearms and general merchandise, along with all associated services, including educational classes. This role involves assisting in the supervision of retail sales, sales personnel, inventory management, special events, educational offerings, range services, and gun club functions. The Assistant Retail Director collaborates closely with the General Manager and all team members to foster a safe, secure, and profitable environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Directs the retail floor by effectively coordinating staff to ensure high standards of customer service are upheld.

2. Identifies current and future customer needs through established relationships while maintaining comprehensive product knowledge and awareness of market trends.

3. Ensures merchandise is organized, adequately stocked, and secure.

4. Develops staff through coaching and mentoring.

5. Achieves a sales pace that aligns with company objectives.

Operational Excellence

1. Regularly assesses inventory levels and implements loss prevention strategies.

2. Upholds the store's stability and reputation by adhering to all legal and health regulations.

3. Maintains cleanliness and safety within the facility.

4. Organizes special events and classes as directed, demonstrating enthusiasm, expertise, and exceptional customer service.

5. Provides daily reports to the General Manager regarding any operational challenges that require attention.

Relationship Management

1. Cultivates and sustains collaborative relationships throughout the organization.

2. Establishes and maintains positive, effective connections with key stakeholders, including external vendors, suppliers, and clientele.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES


• Monitors the budget concerning staffing and inventory.


• Ensures adherence to opening and closing procedures in a timely and accurate manner.


• Supervises and coaches sales personnel to optimize profitability.


• Proficient in technology to execute job functions related to operations, management, and Point of Sale systems.


• Must be able to stand for extended periods on the sales floor.

Requirements:

MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD OR OLDER

EDUCATION

High school diploma required; college coursework preferred.

EXPERIENCE

3-5 years of experience in retail management is preferred.

OTHER

· Must be 21 years old or older

· Availability for normal overtime and extended work hours.

· Capability to physically audit and inspect all operations.
