Job Summary

The Head Cashier is a key member of the retail operations team at Westlake Ace Hardware, responsible for ensuring seamless customer transactions and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Project a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware, greet customers, and ensure excellent customer service from those supervised.
  • Register Operations: Follow cash register transaction procedures, balance the register drawer, and adhere to store programs and promotions.
  • Cash Room Operations: Verify cashier-balancing procedures, deposit procedures, and policies in the absence of the Assistant Manager-Operations.
  • Office Operations: Assist the Assistant Manager-Operations with office duties, including receiving, invoices, purchase orders, and inventory adjustments.
  • Audit: Assist with the quarterly audit checklist and observe cashiers for proper phone etiquette and customer service.
  • Front End Appearance and Upkeep: Maintain a clean and organized front end, face and dust front end, and ensure fresh ads are stocked.
  • Leadership: Communicate merchandising, cost control, and sales ideas to the General Manager, participate in store and cashier meetings, and assist with training and development of new cashiers.
Requirements
  • Education: High School or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Experience in retail and/or office management, cashier experience, and customer service experience preferred.
  • Skills: Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs), and climbing.
Compensation

$14.50 per hour.
