Marketing and Communications Manager
About the Role:
The Marketing and Communications Manager will drive the Chinese Culture Foundation's (CCC) marketing and communication strategies, supporting all aspects of CCC's digital and physical marketing, publicity, and communications projects.
This individual will oversee the development of goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute comprehensive marketing campaigns and maintain the brand integrity of CCC.
This position works in collaboration with staff to implement a communications calendar, create content, and determine the best promotional strategies and messaging for the organization and its programs.
This includes communicating with the press, working with advertising outlets, interfacing with multiple social media formats, updating the website, collating publicity, and maintaining all press archives.
About Us:
Founded in 1965, CCC is driven by our deep commitment to racial justice rooted in the organization's and the Asian diaspora's experiences with xenophobia and racism, and our community's mobilizations against those forces.
We were founded as a cultural anchor in Chinatown by Chinese American activists coming out of the civil rights movement in order to combat inequity by transforming dominant and regressive narratives about our community.
Our immediate mission is focused on Chinese diasporic communities, and because of the activist history through which we were founded, we make connections between that immediate root and pan-ethnic Asian American communities and in solidarity with other communities of color.
Over the last decade, CCC has experienced tremendous growth and is well poised to undergo another transformation for the Chinatown community with the acquisition of a building at 667 Grant Ave.
We believe in fostering a positive work environment founded on professionalism and integrity, where open communication and continuous learning are encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement marketing and communications strategies to achieve organizational goals.
- Develop and manage content for the organization's website, social media channels, and other platforms.
- Manage and implement print and digital materials and collateral.
- Manage all marketing initiatives, including advertising, cross-promotion, and image requests.
- Track, measure, and report the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, communication programs, and events.
- Develop brand guidelines and templates, and ensure that all brand usage guidelines are followed.
- Manage and implement all press and media relations strategies.
Requirements:
- Exceptional writing skills, design, and communication skills.
- Deep familiarity with word processing software, email, and internet software.
- Website Content Management System experience.
- Capacity to regularly update knowledge and skill sets in advertising, publicity, and marketing strategies.
- Familiarity with design and video/photo editing software is a plus.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese preferred.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills, including tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.
- Capacity to respond in a timely manner to inquiries with follow-up communications and materials.
- Familiarity with art museums and non-profit organizations in contemporary visual art or community organizations.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum three (3) to five (5) years' relevant experience in a nonprofit/contemporary visual arts and culture organization with community-driven focus, preparing and implementing media communications, publicity, and marketing.
Developing new and maintaining effective social media communications, including website and social media platforms.
Developing media and sector-related contact databases.
Designing marketing materials, including newsletters, invitations, advertisements, brochures, and other online and print materials.
Work Hours and Benefits:
The Marketing and Communications Manager is a full-time, in-person, exempt position requiring forty hours of work per week.
At times, this position will be required to work evenings and other dates or times outside of CCC's regular office hours to staff CCC events and projects.
These events are pre-planned and will require normally scheduled work to be shifted.
After 90 days, full-time employees are offered:
