Job Summary

The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from various medical facilities, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a variety of vehicles, including buses, vans, and ambulances, to transport patients to and from medical facilities.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during transportation, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and other transportation personnel to ensure smooth and efficient transportation services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest transportation technologies and best practices.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions

The Transportation Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, often under time pressure to meet transportation schedules. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and to lift and move patients as needed.
