Position Overview:
Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly skilled Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects in the field of infrared sensor technology.

Key Responsibilities:
- This role offers the chance to influence and advance state-of-the-art infrared (IR) sensor products while also supporting our established industry-leading IR sensor solutions.

- The engineer will spearhead technical initiatives in the design and development of IR sensors tailored for Tactical and Space applications.

- Responsibilities include performing EO/IR modeling to aid in the development and validation of system concepts.

- The engineer will take on a leadership role, crafting technical execution plans, overseeing program technical tasks, and assisting management in monitoring schedules, budgets, and earned value metrics.

- Guiding and mentoring fellow engineers and technicians in optical tasks to fulfill program requirements will also be part of the role.

- The engineer will engage in system debugging and troubleshooting, providing essential technical guidance to production operations.

- Collaboration with cross-functional teams across various engineering disciplines will be crucial.

- Continuous research and review of technological advancements and industry best practices will be encouraged.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a science-related field is required.

- A background in systems engineering is essential.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.

- Experience in coordinating with customers and analyzing the performance of IR camera systems is preferred.

- Proven ability to lead technical teams to achieve cost, schedule, and performance objectives.

- Familiarity with infrared sensor systems and associated mechanical and optical systems is required.

- Experience in transitioning high-tech products from development to production is a plus.

- Candidates must be able to obtain a secret security clearance and must be U.S. citizens.

Desired Skills:
- A Master's degree or PhD in a related discipline is highly desirable.

- Knowledge of FPA manufacturing technologies and closed-cycle cryogenic systems is advantageous.

- Proficiency in MATLAB programming and radiometric testing of IR systems is beneficial.

- Familiarity with high vacuum and ESD handling requirements is a plus.

- Understanding of reliability engineering and Six Sigma principles is preferred.
