Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Occupational Health team at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the operations of our department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the operations of the Occupational Health Department, including performing administrative and clinical tasks.
- Support the Occupational Health Coordinator and Director with departmental operations, including scheduling, registration, and data entry.
- Perform drug screens, audiograms, blood pressures, Spirometers, injections, and other duties following proper procedures.
- Retrieve drug screen results from Quest website, enter into Agility, and report via fax to company.
- Enter charges into Agility and ICD10 Ecodes.
- Add LIBC-9 to new incident, print charting notes, and mail appropriately.
- Perform patient intake using EMR, documenting accurate and concise information.
- Answer phone calls and greet patients at the door in conjunction with other staff.
- Perform tasks for all Nason Employee New Hires or contract workers, including respiratory fit testing, spirometry, PPD, HBV, Tetanus, audiograms, and provide Nason New-Hire orientation books and schedule lift tests.
- Assist provider with communication to company representative as needed.
- Assist with scheduling referral appointments as needed.
- Assist provider with patient treatment when needed.
- Transport patients to Radiology or ED when needed.
- Perform BAT calibration, urine dip stick calibration, and audiogram calibrations monthly, weekly, and daily respectively.
- Perform twice daily logging of Med Refrigerator temperature chart.
- Perform weekly checks on medications and supplies, dispose of expired products properly, and restock areas with new supplies.
- Maintain drug screen collection protocol manual.
- Provide clerical and clinical duties for the Occupational Health Department.
- Perform registration of the OH patient, using company protocols, encounter form.
- Perform CLIA-waived testing in accordance with product standards and quality control measures.
- Address situations related to Occupational Health or CNMC in a timely manner.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program is required.
- Previous experience working in a Physician's Office, Clinic, or Hospital is preferred.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation, FMSCA, OSHA, FMLA, and ADA laws and regulations is preferred.
- Drug Testing procedures for DOT and Non-DOT types, preferred.
- Alcohol Testing procedures – Breath and saliva, preferred.
- Audiometric, Spirometry, Respiratory Fit Testing preferred.
- Computer skills: Occ Health Software, Microsoft Office, and EMR preferred.
- ICD10, CPT, HCPS coding experience, preferred.
- Proficient with copiers, faxing, scanning, and clerical duties.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
- BLS, within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), within one year of hire.
