Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Madison Approach. This is a permanent direct hire opportunity with a competitive salary range of $85-100K DOE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to the Production Engineering Manager for all aspects of planning functions.
  • Research and analyze production specifications and plant capacity to determine manufacturing processes.
  • Plan, prepare, and issue parts and material schedules that anticipate and coordinate with production sequences.
  • Research, plan, and schedule manufacture of jigs, fixtures, and production aids based on requirements of production sequences.
  • Develop procedures for the construction of production aids and modifications of these as needed.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification.
  • Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction projects, and prepare contract documents.
  • Use computer-assisted design/drafting (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) equipment and software to develop production (shop) drawings.
  • Create and revise production drawings (detail and assembly drawings).
  • Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Draft detailed multiview drawings of individual parts from assembly drawings.
  • Create DXF files as used in writing CNC programs, complete CNC programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining an organized file system for Production Drawings.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience in plant engineering or production planning.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Must have direct work experience with production processes, manufacturing technologies, and facility equipment including machinery, overhead cranes, jigs, fixtures, rigging, and production aids.
  • Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to create 2D or 3D designs to run simulations, analyze, and test.
  • This position requires direct exposure to work conditions on the factory shop floor.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Comfortable working with the metric system.
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • High skill level in SolidWorks CAD software, AutoCAD version 2000 or higher.
  • Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to learn new graphic software to complete CAM programs for Laser and Turret Punch machines.
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication equipment such as Brake Press and Shear a plus.
