Reliability Engineer Job Description

Kawasaki Rail Car is seeking a skilled Reliability Engineer to join our Quality Assurance Team in Yonkers, NY.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough reviews of new project "Request for Quote" for Reliability, Maintainability, System Safety, and Health requirements.
  • Develop proposal sections to respond to stated requirements and implementation plans as necessary.
  • Prepare necessary Contract Document submittals for Reliability, Maintainability, System Safety, and Health, including Reliability Plans, Reliability predictions, Reliability growth plans, and reports.
  • Participate as a Project team member on assigned projects by supporting internal meetings and supporting Project Manager in matters dealing with Reliability, Maintainability, System Safety, and Health.
  • Support customer reviews, including Design Reviews, Project Meetings, and Warranty Meetings.
  • Support implementation of Reliability, Maintainability, System Safety, and Health requirements with vendors throughout design, prototyping, product assembly, demonstration testing, and in-service performance.
  • Coordinate in-service reporting with customers and vendors to ensure timely reviews of failures or negative trends are documented and corrected.
  • Support customer Failure Review Boards as required and coordinate vendor input to the meetings when necessary.
  • Provide technical liaison between KRC Project Engineering and Warranty Site personnel on matters dealing with Reliability, Maintainability, System Safety, and Health.
  • Support department manager or assigned project manager in special projects as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical.
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in support to manufacturing of Rail Cars or other Transportation products at the prime or vendor level.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Reliability, Maintainability, or System Safety and Health disciplines in the Rail Car or Transportation Industry.
  • Experience in multi-site coordination and direct customer interface.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing and working with various computerized databases to generate required reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment and climb stairs, ladders, and lift approximately 50 lbs.
