Location: Woodinville, WA - Full Time - Onsite

Modern Hydrogen is seeking a proficient Lead Manufacturing Engineer to strengthen our capabilities in Design for Manufacturability / Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA). As an integral member of our Product Development team, you will work closely with internal technical teams. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting part production, design, fabrication, and assembly of our commercial products.

This role necessitates your presence at our facility in Woodinville, WA at least 4 days a week and participation in quarterly company events in the Seattle area. These events aim to build connections among colleagues, enhance teamwork, and cultivate a positive working atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop scalable manufacturing systems to facilitate the volume expansion of new products.
  • Plan, document, and oversee manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Provide DFM/A guidance to engineering and advise on cost/design/function trade-offs.
  • Encourage best practices in manufacturing to improve efficiency and yield.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, service providers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing cost models.
  • Contribute to the company's manufacturing strategy.
  • Educate the team on DFM/DFA practices and quality standards.
  • Engage in assembly tooling development.
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%) to visit supplier and customer locations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in product development or manufacturing within a deep tech/hardware company.
  • Experience in establishing a pilot manufacturing line from the ground up for energy systems.
  • Expertise in assembly and manufacturing processes for energy systems or modular chemical process skids.
  • Proficient in mechanical quality control and inspection methodologies.
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Skilled in design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Capable of effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience and enthusiasm for collaborating with suppliers, engineering teams, and supply chain personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with ASME B31 process gas codes and NFPA fire safety regulations.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Previous experience in a startup environment.
