Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Nurse will deliver specialized nursing care to patients in a surgical environment under the supervision of a physician. This role requires advanced clinical skills and the ability to manage complex patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations, providing appropriate treatment.
- Coordinate and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Perform minor surgical procedures as directed by the supervising physician.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative care in collaboration with the supervising physician.
- Utilize advanced assessment skills to identify potential patient complications and communicate effectively with the physician.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Formulate and evaluate treatment plans based on patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families on medical processes, medications, and health promotion.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current Texas Licensure as an APRN – NP
- Current RN First Assist Certification and any specialty certification required by the department
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as required
Education:
Master's degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or a Master's degree in Nursing with completion of a post-master's Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
Experience:
No prior experience required; however, experience in a surgical specialty is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This position may be subject to security-sensitive provisions as outlined in Texas Education Code.
Veteran Information:
Military occupations that relate to the selection criteria and licensure requirements for this position may include various codes.
