Position Overview:

The Advanced Practice Nurse will deliver specialized nursing care to patients in a surgical environment under the supervision of a physician. This role requires advanced clinical skills and the ability to manage complex patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations, providing appropriate treatment.
  2. Coordinate and implement individualized patient care plans.
  3. Perform minor surgical procedures as directed by the supervising physician.
  4. Manage pre-operative and post-operative care in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  5. Utilize advanced assessment skills to identify potential patient complications and communicate effectively with the physician.
  6. Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  7. Formulate and evaluate treatment plans based on patient outcomes.
  8. Maintain accurate records of patient care and treatment plans.
  9. Educate patients and families on medical processes, medications, and health promotion.
  10. Respond to emergency situations as needed.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Texas Licensure as an APRN – NP
  • Current RN First Assist Certification and any specialty certification required by the department
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty certification as required

Education:

Master's degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner or a Master's degree in Nursing with completion of a post-master's Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.

Experience:

No prior experience required; however, experience in a surgical specialty is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
