ABOUT YOU:

AMPS is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to become a vital part of our internal design team. This position will focus on overseeing the comprehensive electrical scope and spearheading the creation of electrical system designs and power solutions for various design/build projects, including Entertainment, Agricultural, Industrial, Commercial, and Manufacturing sectors.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Develop detailed preliminary electrical designs for various design/build projects
  • Design and specify power systems, including load calculations, one-line diagrams, equipment sizing and selection, equipment layouts, lighting photometric calculations, and associated system controls
  • Provide electrical design leadership on projects and collaborate with a national network of design consultants
  • Conduct arc flash and coordination studies using industry-standard software
  • Work collaboratively with the team to procure building switchgear, generators, UPS, and other power components
  • Contribute significantly as part of the Power Solutions team, delivering comprehensive power solutions to clients, including assisting in business development by solving complex project challenges
  • Conduct value engineering reviews and propose alternative design options to maximize cost savings and enhance project execution
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and vendors on technical matters as the electrical expert
  • Exhibit integrity and support for the company, its values, and its employees while maintaining a focus on exceeding customer expectations

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with a minimum GPA of 3.2
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering or electrical design
  • Experience with BIM software preferred (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks)
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering software such as ETAP and SKM
  • Able to organize, plan, and manage multiple tasks to achieve desired outcomes
  • Preferred experience in an electrical engineering design consultancy
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) designation preferred; AMPS will support the pursuit of EIT and/or PE licensure
  • Experience in creating design spreadsheets or coding scripts is a plus
