Job Summary

Midland States Bank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. As a key member of our residential lending team, you will be responsible for developing relationships with referral partners, soliciting business, and originating family residential loans within predetermined guidelines and rates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referral partners, including realtors, builders, bank colleagues, attorneys, and CPAs.
  • Analyze prospects' income, assets, and liabilities to advise them on the most appropriate mortgage products and services.
  • Collect and analyze financial data to identify potential borrowers and secure necessary information to process and underwrite loans.
  • Provide assistance to help potential borrowers successfully qualify for financing and consistently achieve volume and/or unit production targets.
  • Work cooperatively with cross-functional teams, community-based organizations, title companies, and referral partners to achieve business objectives.
  • Actively cross-sell bank products where applicable and project a positive attitude and act with integrity at all times.
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service and provide support at bank-sponsored events.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and adhere to the company's Compliance Policy.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration.
  • 1+ years of experience in real estate and/or mortgage.
  • Strong entrepreneurial and business development/sales experience/skills.
  • Knowledge of FHA, FNMA, and FHLMS underwriting guidelines.
  • Knowledge of mortgage compliance regulations.
  • Business acumen and judgment, including bank mortgage products, policies, and procedures.
  • Needs analysis skills, including analyzing information regarding customer income/debts.
  • Interpersonal/Persuasive/Influencing and negotiation skills.
