Position Overview: Educational Program Coordinator for the Metro Girls initiative.

Our participants, referred by the judicial system, possess diverse learning needs and backgrounds. Position Details

Department: Department of Youth Services Education Initiative

Job Title: Educational Program Coordinator

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Regional Education Coordinator and Assistant Regional Education Coordinator

Salary: Union Scale

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current Massachusetts secondary level teacher licensure in relevant content areas such as Math, English/Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, or Reading. Additional licenses may be considered based on program needs.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of successful teaching and/or supervisory experience with at-risk youth is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and supervise educational staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of teachers and educational staff, while overseeing on-site educational programming and staff development.
  • Deliver daily instruction and related educational functions as per supervisory expectations.
  • Coordinate educational programming activities and ensure compliance with DYS Minimum Education Requirements.
  • Support the development of diverse learning pathways, including GED preparation, diploma attainment, post-secondary coursework, career exploration, and vocational training.
  • Promote a personalized education approach, utilizing strategies such as blended learning, student-teacher conferences, and portfolio development.
  • Maintain accurate student data and documentation as required by DYS and/or CES.
  • Facilitate positive communication with parents/guardians and conduct program-based evening events.
  • Identify and address professional development needs for assigned sites.
  • Supervise educational staff and support their professional growth.
  • Complete administrative reports and duties, ensuring compliance with educational standards.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and provide leadership in effective instructional practices.
  • Ensure students engage with the curriculum and prepare for self-advocacy.
  • Oversee the implementation of assessments and maintain confidentiality as per Department of Education guidelines.
  • Manage emergency situations and ensure compliance with agency policies.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by leadership.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a positive outlook in a dynamic environment. Candidates should be in good physical condition to handle the demands of the role, including considerable walking and standing.
