Department Overview: The Finance Department consists of a dedicated team responsible for all fiscal and accounting operations across multiple locations. This team handles various functions including treasury management, accounting, government grants, tax compliance, contracts, and risk management. They are committed to delivering timely financial reporting to support essential community services.

Role Summary: The Grants Financial Coordinator is tasked with providing fiscal and administrative assistance while ensuring adherence to all funding stipulations associated with contracts and grants. Key responsibilities include:

  • Accurately documenting financial transactions linked to grants.
  • Generating financial reports and overseeing grant budgets.
  • Tracking revenue and expenditures, and performing reconciliations.
  • Analyzing and maintaining financial records.
  • Collaborating with various departments and funding agencies to ensure effective financial management of grants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with program directors and project teams to grasp the financial requirements of grant-funded initiatives.
  • Act as the financial liaison for funders, ensuring compliance with grant conditions and reporting obligations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to assist in the preparation of budgets and financial documentation for grant proposals.
  • Process invoices, reimbursements, and other financial records necessary for grant-related activities.
  • Reconcile financial transactions related to grants with the general ledger.
  • Conduct audits and generate reports to aid management in decision-making regarding grant expenditures.
  • Support the finance department during the month-end closing process.
  • Monitor and manage deferred grant revenue.
  • Review and prepare grant budgets and modifications.
  • Propose updates to the Accounting Policies & Procedures manual based on best practices.
  • Oversee subcontractors and ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Assist during internal and external audits.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing grant management processes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience or knowledge of the LGBTQ community and relevant issues.
  • A commitment to the Center's mission and values.
  • At least 1 year of experience in grant accounting, preferably in a multi-service environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a related field or equivalent education in Finance or Accounting.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in automated accounting systems and software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
