Position Overview:
The Lower School at Milton Academy is in search of a committed individual to support K-5 educational initiatives and oversee the After School Program (ASP). This role involves providing academic assistance to K-5 students and supervising the ASP activities.
The ideal candidate will have a background in educational environments or child care, possess strong communication abilities, and demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with lead educators, support personnel, and the ASP team.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum:
- Execute lesson plans for K-5 students across various settings.
- Assist lead educators during classroom activities.
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers and engage in lesson planning.
- Supervise students during lunch and recess periods.
- Support students with homework in the after-school setting.
- Organize games and activities, particularly within the ASP.
- Encourage freedom of choice and play in the ASP.
- Guide students to different locations on campus.
- Maintain attendance records for the ASP.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- Participate in school activities beyond the classroom.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive learning atmosphere.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning preferences.
- Stay informed about trends in elementary education.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within educational practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and academic support to students.
