Position Overview:

The Lower School at Milton Academy is in search of a committed individual to support K-5 educational initiatives and oversee the After School Program (ASP). This role involves providing academic assistance to K-5 students and supervising the ASP activities.

The ideal candidate will have a background in educational environments or child care, possess strong communication abilities, and demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with lead educators, support personnel, and the ASP team.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum:

  • Execute lesson plans for K-5 students across various settings.
  • Assist lead educators during classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with homeroom teachers and engage in lesson planning.
  • Supervise students during lunch and recess periods.
  • Support students with homework in the after-school setting.
  • Organize games and activities, particularly within the ASP.
  • Encourage freedom of choice and play in the ASP.
  • Guide students to different locations on campus.
  • Maintain attendance records for the ASP.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Participate in school activities beyond the classroom.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning preferences.
  • Stay informed about trends in elementary education.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within educational practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and academic support to students.
  • Assess student performance and communicate effectively with parents.
