The Preservation Society of Newport County is seeking a part-time Site Technician/Housekeeper. This position is crucial for ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of historic properties, making them welcoming for public visits. The work schedule is adaptable, allowing for up to 25 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours during peak seasons. Some weekend availability is required, and occasional special events may necessitate work outside of regular hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to a structured schedule to guarantee that primary cleaning tasks are completed promptly for public access.
- Manage the daily operation of alarm systems and lighting in preparation for site opening and closing.
- Conduct daily glass cleaning and dust removal from floors, surfaces, and furniture.
- Carefully relocate furniture or historic artifacts under the guidance of the Site Supervisor.
- Perform periodic floor cleaning and buffing, which may involve the use of wax or other cleaning agents as instructed.
- Open and close windows as directed and replace light bulbs when necessary.
- Collect trash, vacuum as needed, and maintain cleanliness in restrooms.
- Clear trash, leaves, and snow from walkways and entrances, which may require the use of a leaf blower or snow removal equipment.
- Inspect the grounds of assigned properties and assist in setting up and dismantling traffic ropes and signage.
- Carry out other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent, with prior housekeeping experience preferred.
- A proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and comprehend simple directives.
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to maintain a flexible approach.
- Familiarity with cleaning products, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Flexibility to work at various locations as needed.
- Adherence to established safety and health regulations.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Compensation: $16.75 per hour
