Job SummaryHDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Engineering Manager (EM) to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. As a Substation Engineering Manager, you will lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams on high voltage substation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a partnership with a Project Manager, responsible for scope, schedule, budget, and client management, and lead the technical team and execution of the project deliverables.
- Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects.
- Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to project team members.
- Support the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
- Work independently and direct, mentor, and/or train one or more Project Engineers, EITs, or CADD/Designers.
- Coordinate and/or perform quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of technical design experience with high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects of varying complexity up to 500kV.
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers, and project staff.
- Experience using industry standard design software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms.
- Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
- Previous consulting firm experience.
- Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- PE license.
