Position Overview:

Compensation: $25/hour

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Weekly Hours: 30-35 hours

Contract Duration: School Year

The Behavioral Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering educational and behavioral services to individuals with special needs. This position involves collaboration with educational professionals and behavioral specialists to meet learning and behavioral objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to guidance from the BCBA, educators, and program supervisors.
  • Implement behavior management strategies, including prevention and intervention techniques.
  • Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Review and execute behavior intervention plans.
  • Assist in achieving behavioral and academic goals outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Support academic instruction as directed by educators.
  • Facilitate development plans for Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Physical Therapy (PT).
  • Document sessions in accordance with established policies.
  • Accurately collect behavioral and academic data.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
  • Assist individuals in developing daily living skills through self-care activities.
  • Support individuals across various environments, including classrooms and recreational areas.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred two years of experience working with children.
  • Compliance with relevant professional standards.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program as applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if necessary.
  • Health documentation as required by regulations.
  • Ability to meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as required.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
