Key Responsibilities

Program Development and Management

  • Collaborate with the Recreation Coordinator to establish program objectives and activities for youth.
  • Facilitate various recreational, educational, and social activities to promote teamwork and personal growth.
  • Oversee classroom dynamics and provide guidance to youth participants.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Develop lesson plans as necessary.
  • Assist in compiling program documentation, including attendance records, activity calendars, meal logs, and incident reports.

Training and Supervision

  • Maintain certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Mental Health First Aid, along with any additional required training.
  • Engage in monthly supervision meetings with the Recreation Coordinator and participate in staff gatherings.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Support adherence to OSHA and DOHMH regulations.
  • Ensure that the program environment is kept clean and hygienic.
  • Assist in the distribution of meals while following established food service protocols.

Parent and Community Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between parents and the program.
  • Accompany youth on community outings as authorized by the supervisor.
  • Conduct outreach to parents to encourage youth involvement in the program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with youth in recreational, educational, or social settings.
  • Familiarity with best practices in youth development is preferred.
  • Knowledge of whole language philosophy is advantageous.
  • Clearance through relevant state and child services is mandatory.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational abilities are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business technology is required.
