Position Overview - Campus Security Officer:
The Dallas Independent School District is actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of Campus Security Officer. This position is essential in fostering a safe and secure environment for all students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a secure campus atmosphere by deterring unsafe actions.
- Conduct prevention and detection of unlawful activities and safety risks.
- Provide comprehensive support to the school community.
- Assist in managing and escorting individuals who are disruptive or have been apprehended.
- Perform regular patrols of both exterior and interior campus areas, engaging directly with students and district staff within the designated jurisdiction.
- Mediate conflicts or confrontations involving students, staff, visitors, or other individuals on campus.
- Promptly report all incidents or criminal activities to the supervisor.
- Comply with the policies and procedures established by the Board of Trustees, the district, and the Police and Security Department.
- Maintain adherence to grooming standards and dress codes as required for uniformed personnel.
- Attend all mandatory meetings as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
- A valid accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) is required.
- A valid Texas Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCOLE) is mandatory.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are honorably retired Texas peace officers within the last two years.
- Willingness to undergo a thorough background check, psychological evaluation, medical examination, and drug screening is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency with firearms by successfully completing the Dallas ISD pistol qualification course.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision is crucial.

Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance effective school security operations for the protection of individuals, data, and property.
- Capacity to interact sensitively and equitably with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Proficient in communicating effectively with students, parents, and all levels of District personnel, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Training and capability to subdue offenders, including the use of firearms and handcuffs.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Must demonstrate emotional control under stress.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
