Patient Access Representative Job Description

At Powers Health, we are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating services by performing patient access, registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and predeterminations for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify and authorize insurance benefits on patient accounts through electronic verification systems or direct contact.
  • Submit referrals, authorizations, and predeterminations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Pursue account receivable balance resolutions.
  • Interact daily with patients, insurance carriers, physicians, and staff.
Requirements:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in insurance or medical billing, preferably in a physician practice setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-9 & 10 coding.
  • Comprehension of government and third-party billing regulations.
  • At least 1 year of experience with predetermination processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, internet navigation, and research, as well as experience with computerized health information systems.
  • Familiarity with operating general office equipment, including scanners, fax machines, photocopiers, printers, and adding machines.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
