Position Overview: Operations Supervisors serve as the initial level of leadership and oversight within the Transportation Division. Collaborating closely with senior management, including the Chief Operating Officer and other key personnel, Operations Supervisors deliver training, guidance, and supervision to engineers, conductors, and collectors. They ensure adherence to operational protocols and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide first-level leadership and supervision for all operational crew members.
  • Maintain qualifications as a conductor or engineer to train and operate when necessary.
  • Conduct training sessions for engineers, conductors, and collectors.
  • Perform regular operational assessments as mandated by regulatory standards.
  • Engage in the maintenance of the Employee Efficiency Testing program.
  • Occasionally ride trains to evaluate employee compliance with operational rules.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of training materials and procedural changes.
  • Act as a hearing officer or witness in internal investigations.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by senior management.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a railroad or transit environment is highly desirable.
  • Licensed conductors or engineers with a minimum of five years of relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on promoting safe work practices.
  • Proven track record of maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Proficient in data entry and familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal regulations and a commitment to supporting ongoing projects.
  • Must possess satisfactory operational and attendance records.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and flexible shift schedules.
Work Environment: The role may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including noise and outdoor elements. The candidate must be capable of navigating uneven surfaces and passing required physical examinations.
