We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support and administrative tasks in an ambulatory setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assist licensed healthcare professionals with patient care, vital signs, and laboratory tests.
- Perform clinical intake, data collection, and documentation.
- Provide clinical support services, including preparing laboratory specimens, performing testing, and cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Organize and prioritize daily work assignments to support patient needs and operational efficiency.
- Implement age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient needs.
- Reinforce patient/family teaching plans based on identified health education needs.
- Provide a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
- Maintain supplies and equipment.
- Document and capture charges for clinical support services rendered.
- Perform administrative support responsibilities, including drafting letters and assisting with completion of forms.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is preferred.
- Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association is required.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required.
The job requires standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/traveling. Ability to lift/push/pull lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
